Charlotte: During the summer yarn arrived from Louet and it just set my head spinning with ideas for color work. Because the yarn is very soft, it's perfect for kids, you won't get any complaints about it being scratchy in spite of the fact that it is 100% wool – but it's merino wool!
Charlotte: Denne sommer kom der garn fra Louet. Det gav mig bare så mange ideer til mønsterstrik. Fordi garnet er blødt, er det bare perfekt til børn, for det kradser ikke, selv om det er 100 % uld – men det er merino uld!
My first project was a vest for my daughter using 5 of the colors. The loooong car ride to North Carolina this summer was perfect for knitting the two color body pattern. This all over pattern is inspired by an old Scandinavian simplified tree repeat which I changed slightly in order to enhance the graphic expression. Since this is intended for children and youth the bright and fun colors from Louet are perfect. My daughter's favorite color is light green so that is the main color with French Blue as the contrast color. A darker green adds dimension and of course there must always be white in a traditional Norwegian knitting pattern. I added a yoke because I've been reading Poems of Color, the story behind the Swedish Bohus designs by Wendy Keele and of course I had to make my own version of it.
